LawtechUK is a targeted work programme that is helping transform the UK legal sector through tech, delivered through a collaboration between Tech Nation, the LawtechUK Panel and the Ministry of Justice.
Digital dispute resolution rules – Your chance to contribute
Following the publication last year of the Legal Statement on Cryptoassets and Smart Contracts, the UK Jurisdiction Taskforce (UKJT) of LawtechUK is consulting on a possible new arbitration procedure aimed at facilitating the rapid, informal and cost-effective resolution of disputes arising out of novel technologies, including digital assets, smart contracts, blockchain and fintech. We think of lawtech as technology that supports or enables the provision of legal services or dispute resolution systems – the term is roughly synonymous with legaltech or legal technology.
Lawtech includes technology used by legal service providers and the justice community to help them deliver legal services or resolve disputes. It also includes technology that allows businesses and individuals to take care of their own legal matters.
The UK has emerged as a hub for startups and scaleups developing lawtech products and services. Here are some key facts on this growing tech sector.
