We are excited to announce the latest group of 15 home-grown tech companies selected for Tech Nation’s prestigious Future Fifty programme, now entering its tenth year.
The companies represent world-leading innovations across more than 10 sectors, including fintech, retail, autonomous vehicles, gaming, edtech and cybersecurity.
Collectively the cohort employs over 5,000 people and has raised almost $1.6bn in venture capital investment. In total the companies – ranging from two to 12 years old – have generated £283m in revenue, an average of £19m each. In the next 12 months the 15 companies are planning to further increase their headcounts by an average of 60%.
Tech Nation CEO Gerard Grech said:“The companies selected to join this year’s Future Fifty programme are a shining example of the UK’s entrepreneurship, innovation and resilience.
“Based across the UK, nurturing the growth of these scaling late-stage tech companies is critical to future proofing the UK’s economy.”
The cohort includes both new startups which met the challenges posed by the pandemic, like online events platform Hopin, and established scaleups like online car retailer Cazoo, which began trading on the New York Stock Exchange in August 2021, raising $1bn to build out its brand across the UK and mainland Europe.
Cazoo’s mission is to transform the car buying and selling experience for consumers across the UK and Europe by providing better selection, quality, transparency, convenience, flexibility and peace of mind. Cazoo aims to make buying or selling a car no different to ordering any other product online today, where consumers can simply and seamlessly buy, sell, finance or subscribe to a car entirely online for delivery or collection in as little as 72 hours.
