Academic research is all well and good, but how do the results of that research get into the hands of businesses that can make real-world use of it? That’s where IN-PART comes in.

The Sheffield-based startup is a matchmaker between the academic and business worlds, and trumpets a 75 percent success rate in creating successful pairings.

Co-founder Patrick Speedie spotted the opportunity after witnessing a conversation between scientists and pharmaceutical industry representatives. The two groups realised they had the perfect chance to collaborate, but it was total luck that they met. IN-PART was created to replace that serendipity with something a bit more powerful.

The company was one of the winners of our Northern Stars competition last year. Hear their business story in this video.
