What is the Tech Nation Visa?
The Tech Nation Visa is a unique visa scheme that offers flexibility and manoeuvrability within the UK Digital Industry. Unlike other UK work visas, the Tier 1 Exceptional Talent and Tier 1 Exceptional Promise are exempted from such criteria such as maintenance and allow visa holders to apply for indefinite leave to remain after just five years.
One of our 2015 Northern Stars winners, Leaf.fm has benefited enormously from the scheme. Founders Gilbert Corrales and Helga Alvarez who both hail from Costa Rica and reside in Newcastle. They are holders of Tier 1 Exceptional Talent Visas and have successfully obtained a further four for employees.
“The Tech Nation Visa has allowed us to tap world-class talent and create an internal pipeline which we would not have otherwise.”
Corrales also suggested that the visa scheme has made his company attractive to apprentices, as they gain international exposure by working in a multicultural environment.
