Tech North is hiring! We’re looking for an Executive Assistant to support the Head of Tech North and wider team, and a Social Media Manager to join our Content Team.

Background

Tech North is a government programme being delivered through Tech City UK. Its mission is to accelerate the development of the North’s digital ecosystem helping to attract talent, entrepreneurs, venture capital and inward investment to Northern England.

General Role Purpose & Scope

The Executive Assistant will play a vital role in the success of the Tech North organisation by supporting the Head of Tech North and the wider team to create and promote digital tech as a key element of northern England’s current and future economy. Providing comprehensive administration support for the Head of Tech North, with utmost discretion and professionalism as well as general office support to the wider team. With multiple offices and staff spread throughout the North West, North East & Yorkshire we have unusual challenges regarding coordination within our team as well as with our wider community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a very busy calendar and schedule whilst prioritising and resolving issues effectively
  • Organising extensive travel and accommodation as required, responding to changes at short notice
  • Arranging itineraries and meetings for Board, Advisory Board and team meetings including preparation for presentations, communications and reports
  • Manage relationships with main and satellite office space providers
  • Composing and preparing confidential documents using Microsoft Office
  • Some additional PA duties for the Executive Chair of Tech North where required

Desired Skills & Experience

  • You are passionate about the North and its future.
  • You will be super organised and be able to prioritise effectively, taking into account continual changes in demands and schedule.
  • You will have significant experience of working as an Executive PA within a busy, demanding and constantly changing environment.
  • You will be an excellent communicator and will remain professional at all times, whether in writing, in person or over the phone.
  • You will have real strength of character and will provide a solid support for the Head of Tech North, enabling them to fully focus on their key responsibilities and allowing the organisation to run more efficiently.
  • You are a highly motivated self-starter, able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • You will have excellent IT skills and be a proficient user of Microsoft Office suite of systems, apple products and Google Mail/ calendar.
  • You will enjoy working in an entrepreneurial organisation.
  • You must be able to demonstrate that you are comfortable working in a very ‘hands on’ environment and are happy to support the Executive team in all aspects of their day-to-day roles.
  • You must be able to respond to tight deadlines and manage expectations where necessary.

Due to the nature of the business, flexibility of working hours will be required with this position.  You may also be required to travel occasionally throughout the UK.

Based in: Manchester

Travel: 15% of time dedicated to travel across the North; 5% to London

Social Media Manager

  • Help us build and engage our community by sharing our content strategically and building relationships by starting and joining meaningful conversations, both online and offline
  • Work closely with the content team to execute the content strategy
  • Work closely with the wider Tech North team to get under the skin of what our community is talking about and interested in, and really understand the issues shaping the sector
  • Manage a social media content calendar
  • Manage social media channels including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram, among others
  • Publish and schedule content on social media using a scheduling tool
  • Build relationships and conversations on social media and other relevant forums
  • Plan and execute social media activity around events to create buzz and awareness
  • Build relationships with key contacts at partner and other key organisations, collaborating on social media plans to maximise reach
  • Content outreach – ensure our content is seen and shared by the right people by proactively contacting them to share our content with them, including link-building activity for SEO benefit
  • Write and produce content including images and graphics for programme marketing, brand-building, PR/comms and listings activity
  • Manage some content campaigns and projects from start to finish
  • Introducing paid social activity on selected campaigns
  • Reporting on performance using various analytics tools including Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, Twitter Analytics, LinkedIn Analytics, Bitly Analytics, and others as appropriate

Due to the nature of the business, flexibility of working hours will be required with this position.  You may also be required to travel occasionally throughout the UK.
