Upscale is our free programme that helps the UK’s most promising digital tech companies accelerate their growth – and we’re currently accepting applications. We think Upscale 6.0 is a crucial programme for ambitious founders during Covid-19 – but you don’t have to take our word for it. In the words of our alumni companies who have experienced what the programme has to offer, here’s five reasons why you should apply for Upscale 6.0 before its deadline of 4pm on October 27.

1. You’ll join an invaluable peer-to-peer network of founders
Upscale 5.0 alumnus Arctic Shores has developed data-driven psychometric tests that combine neuroscience, AI and game technology to try and eliminate bias when it comes to hiring and promoting people. For its founder and CTO Safe Hammad, being a part of Upscale’s network of founders was “invaluable”. “I can wholeheartedly recommend the Upscale programme to anyone who is fortunate to join it,” Safe says. “The presentations and discussion groups led by those who had ‘been there before’ were first class. And the space to share stories with other founders and to work through the challenges we faced was invaluable.”
2. It’s an unparalleled learning opportunity for your entire leadership team
Tessa Clarke is the cofounder and CEO of food-sharing app scaleup Olio, from our Upscale 4.0 cohort. Olio recently partnered with Tesco to launch a scheme that allows people to collect unwanted groceries from the supermarket for free using Olio’s app. Tessa, who describes Upscale as “one of the best scaleup programmes around”, valued the programme’s ability to help her whole senior leadership team. “Upscale has an incredibly well thought through format and is an unparalleled learning and networking opportunity – not only for the founders, but also for the whole senior leadership team,” Tessa says. “I can’t recommend it highly enough!”

3. You’ll forge relationships that support you on your scaling journey
This year, Upscale 6.0 will feature online sessions that present an opportunity to break away from the day and develop relationships with fellow founders that will last long after the programme has ended. That was a key benefit for Dr Charlies Armitage, MD and cofounder at Florence, who experienced Upscale 5.0. “The real benefit to Upscale lies in the ability to disconnect from the day-to-day and build a strong, mutually supportive network of fellow founders,” Charles says. “I have built relationships in Upscale that will continue to support us for years.”
4. You’ll receive promotion and visibility as one of the UK’s fastest growing tech companies
Featuring 30 carefully selected scaling companies each year, Upscale is synonymous with quality and boasts an envious alumni list featuring the cream of UK tech. One founder who experienced Upscale’s energy is Dr Jason McKeown, the founder and CEO of Northern Ireland-based Upscale 5.0 alumnus Neurovalens. The Belfast-based company raised £5m in July to develop its non-invasive technology used to cure or treat neurological diseases without the need of implanted electrodes. “Seeing the high degree of passion and focus from a group of the UK’s best startups really drives your focus and clarity,” Jason says.
5. It’s our most ambitious Upscale yet
Upscale 6.0 is our most ambitious Upscale programme yet – and we’re upping the digital experience. We’ve listened to our alumni founders such as Ben Prouty, CEO of London-based Shepper. For Ben, Upscale 5.0’s content was “diverse and implementable with an impressive array of contributors – and no ‘fluff’.” In taking Upscale 6.0 to the next level, we’re making more of Upscale’s content accessible online than ever before. Founders will gain access to increased session content and continuous online support for their leadership teams while benefiting from digital connections to investors and other founders. What’s more, they will be invited to join our exclusive knowledge-sharing network for scaling tech entrepreneurs, founders and executive team mentors across the UK.
