A UK Branch of Global Communications Company MDA in Line to Gain £11 Million Contract With the International Space Station.

Two years ago, the UK Space Agency invested in the International Space Station, with a view to reaching their goal of capturing 10% of the global market for space by 2030 (set out in the Space Innovation and Growth Strategy). Recently, the UK subsidiary of MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates Ltd (MDA) won the first stage of a contract to supply the European model of the ISS with its own data relay terminal. The UK’s £16 million investment into the ESA’s ISS programme (Project Orion) in 2012 was primarily focused on telecommunications and propulsion technology so this recent announcement represents a great success, showing the possibility of an industrial return for the UK.
