What makes a company a ‘tech’ company?

When we launched the Northern Tech 100 league table in March a few people got in touch to express their disapproval at the inclusion of a number of companies they didn’t consider to be tech companies. Which poses the question: what makes a company a tech company?

We spoke to some of the companies on the league table as well as a few industry figures to get their view.
