20 MARCH 2025 – LONDON.

Tech Nation, powered by Founder’s Forum Group, and the UK’s leading growth platform and industry body for startups and their teams, has unveiled the 25 innovative climate tech companies joining its 2025 Climate Programme.

The renowned four-month growth programme accelerates high-potential tech startups that bridge the gap between climate innovation and industry. The programme supports leading climate tech companies to scale their impact by accessing the right investors and multinational customers, and by providing founders with a platform to advance climate policy and remove regulatory barriers.

Backed by Tech Nation’s Founding Partner, HSBC Innovation Banking, and EDF Energy, this year’s Climate Programme showcases a diverse and global cohort. Over a third (36%) of the selected companies in this year’s Programme are woman-founded and almost half (46%) are based outside of London. For the first time, the cohort includes international representation, with startups from Berlin, Paris and Lagos – showcasing Tech Nation’s global reach.

Established in 2020 as part of the UK Government’s Net Zero by 2050 strategy, the Climate Programme has built an incredible network of over 140 leading climate tech companies including Circulor, Foodsteps (acquired by Registrar Corp), Xampla, Olio, Electron and Ox Delivers. Companies who have been part of the programme have scaled 2.5 times as fast as the industry average and alumni have raised over £1.5 billion since graduating.

The programme’s steering committee includes leading names who have transitioned their focus to solving climate change, including Dhiraj Mukherjee, Co-Founder of Shazam; Marta Krupinska, fintech entrepreneur turned climate tech founder; Roee Goldberg, Co-Founder of OpenWeb; and Sarah Hunter, NED of ARIA.

Key Themes for Climate 2025 Include:

Nature tech

A record number of nature startups have joined this year’s cohort, including: Ponterra, which is restoring nature by developing and operating high-quality carbon projects in partnership with local farmers; and Materra, a regenerative cotton and technology company which is helping to make fashion more sustainable.

Material innovation

Multiple cohort participants are working with breakthrough sustainable materials, including: Magical Mushroom Company, which is solving the plastic problem through its sustainable, fully biodegradable mushroom-made packaging; and Rare Earth Global, a B2B marketplace that opens up access to sustainable industrial hemp products for the energy, construction and feed sectors.

Future of energy

Addressing pressing decarbonisation goals, cohort participant Renewabl simplifies renewable energy procurement, while HalioGen provides technology that allows long term energy storage, making renewable energy accessible anywhere, anytime.

Bioengineering

Innovative companies are harnessing biology to create sustainable solutions that are transforming traditional industries. For example, Twig Bio produces eco-friendly alternatives to harmful ingredients found in day-to-day products, and Sun Bear Biofuture develops sustainable fats and oils that can be used as alternatives to cocoa butter, palm oil and other high-value cosmetics ingredients.

Announcing the programme cohort, Carolyn Dawson OBE, CEO of Founders Forum Group, said:

“Our Climate Programme plays a vital role in propelling some of the world’s most transformative climate startups to the next level of impact, and our first-ever global representation underscores that climate challenges require borderless solutions. From simplifying renewable energy procurement to producing eco-friendly alternatives to harmful ingredients, these 25 startups aren’t just developing ground-breaking technologies – they’re shaping a sustainable future for generations to come.”

Tech Nation’s Head of Climate, Sammy Fry said:

“While political attitudes towards climate tech may fluctuate, the urgency of addressing climate change and decarbonisation remains constant. The Climate Programme remains dedicated to accelerating the growth of high-impact climate startups and positively disrupting high-emitting industries. By providing specialist advisory support and access to leading investors, multinational customers and policy makers, we’re ensuring these innovative solutions reach global markets and fulfil their potential of creating systemic change.

Tessa Clarke, Founder and CEO of Olio said:
The new Climate Programme cohort is a powerful reminder that while things might be tumultuous on the world stage, founders are busy doing what they do best – solving the world’s largest problems. However every business needs support to accelerate its trajectory, and the Climate Programme does just that for the UK’s most promising early stage climate startups. I certainly know that at Olio we benefited enormously. I can’t wait to see the impact this cohort has in years to come!”
