7 May 2025 – LONDON. Tech Nation will announce the next wave of high-impact tech companies at a Number 10 event hosted by Prime Minister Keir Starmer this evening. The tech scaleups have been selected for the prestigious Future Fifty programme, which is designed to fuel growth for high-potential and high-growth scaleups across the UK.
At the end, the Prime Minister will endorse the launch of Tech Nation’s It Takes a Tech Nation campaign, which will amplify the UK’s strengths as an international tech hub and support the founders scaling world-changing ideas with the power to place the UK at the forefront of global innovation.
This cohort’s scaleups represent sectors including AI, medtech and climate tech, with almost a third (32%) hailing from outside of London. Successful companies include ElevenLabs, which instantly creates natural AI voices in any language, and NatureMetrics, which uses cutting-edge DNA analysis to monitor biodiversity. Collectively the 25 participating scaleups have raised over £3 billion in debt, grants, and equity and employ more than 1,800 people.
Future Fifty alumni form the UK’s most prominent network of high-growth scaleups, counting 30% of the country’s unicorns amongst its ranks. Since the programme’s relaunch in March 2024, Future Fifty has built substantial momentum, equipping 50 ambitious scaleups with the practical insights and connections required for their next growth phase, and leading high-profile international missions to Singapore, New York, and Dubai to connect cohort founders with leading investors, CEOs, and government officials. The programme inducts 25 companies at a time, twice a year.
Future Fifty is backed by corporate partners including HSBC Innovation Banking (Founding Partner), Evelyn Partners, S&W, EY, and Capsule Insurance.
Carolyn Dawson OBE, CEO of Founders Forum Group, said: “If the UK is going to lead the world in AI and innovation, we need to think bigger and move faster – together. It takes a Tech Nation to turn bold ideas into global powerhouses. Government, investors, corporates, and founders all have a role to play in unlocking the next wave of unicorns. Collaboration isn’t a nice-to-have – it’s mission critical for scaling breakthroughs that will shape our future and cement the UK’s place on the global tech stage.”
Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves said: “With a billion dollar tech sector and the most Unicorns in Europe, the UK has a proud track record in developing innovative technology that will help grow our economy, make our public services more efficient and put more money in people’s pockets.
“The Future Fifty programme plays an important role in supporting the next generation of high-growth scale ups which employ thousands of people in our future industries, powering growth across the UK and turbocharging our Plan for Change”.
Technology Secretary Peter Kyle said: “Backing ambitious scaleups is an investment in Britain’s long-term prosperity and economic growth. Tech Nation’s Future Fifty unlocks the potential of our brightest tech companies, helping them become global leaders.
“By taking that support to every region, Tech Nation shares our commitment to spread innovation and give scaleups the backing to grow and create jobs across the UK.”
Johnny Mayo, Future Fifty Lead at Tech Nation, commented: “This Future Fifty cohort showcases some of the UK’s most promising high-impact ventures – trailblazers in AI, climatetech and beyond We’re thrilled to welcome them into this prestigious programme, and are committed to helping them scale to new heights by giving them the knowledge, connections, and insights needed to change the world.”
